Opposition procedure for registration of a trademark.

According to art. 19 (1) of Law 84/1998 on trademarks and geographical indications:

“ Within two months from the date of publication of the trademark application, according to art. 17, any interested person may object to the registration of the trademark ”.

Basically, after the trademark is filed for registration, within 7 days it is published in the BOPI (Official Industrial Property Bulletin). Since then, the two-month period dedicated to oppositions from interested third parties begins to run. If you are the owner of a previous trademark similar to a trademark, both in terms of name and protection classes, we can represent you in the opposition procedure by drafting the arguments, filing them and monitoring the strict terms related to this procedure.
